2nd day in Adelaide

My 2nd day in Adelaide is quite peaceful. Warmer today compared to yesterday. Highest was 29 degrees today. One of my friend said that a few days before I came, it was 42 degrees. Imagine that! 42! If it ever go to that hot, I am going to get a fan. Sheesh. That's even warmer than Singapore! and I have no fan, no aircon! Only heater, which I think may not even use if the weather continues to be so hot. Plus the window for my room is quite small, so not much cool air coming in. Humph.

Did a very stupid thing today. I brought my laptop to the library today to set up the wireless network. The lady from IT department said we should get it set up asap before Orientation week next week cos there will be lots of students. So I lug my laptop with me... and discovered to my horror, that I forgot to bring the battery. Grrrr. I could have gone back and get the battery and go back but I was just too lazy. Although 20 mins walk is not far, but 20 mins under the hot sun makes you really tired :P

It's kinda weird that at 8+ the sky is still quite brightly lit. Misleading... thought it's still 5+. Humph.

Think I'm still jetlagged. 8.05pm and I'm yawning and feeling sleepy. Going off to sleep!

1st day in Adelaide

A bit backdated, since this was yesterday, but I was just too tired to actually write anything yesterday (except a few emails to some people). In the end, I didnt sleep too early either cause I forgot to buy a hairdryer and my hair was so wet!

The flight to Adelaide was so-so. I cant believe that Qantas didnt give us a comfort kit! Heng I had my toothbrush and toothpaste in my bag. If not... yucks. As usual, there's a baby on board that kept crying during the sleeping time. But overall, quite ok. Upon reaching Adelaide, I was quite surprised by the weather. Was prepare for hot weather, but it was 19 degrees! The international student officer that met me, Ivan, said that a few days before it was 30+ degress. So quite heng for me! :) (Today's weather seems quite cooling too!)

Adelaide reminds me of Hobart. *yeah* but just not as quiet. Will need to take some time to explore the place.

I am currently staying at Kathleen Lumley College. Not sure how long I'll stay... see how things goes. I was quite shocked at the room. I had to share a bathroom with another gal (which is OK), and also to share my wardrobe space with her (which I am NOT OK!). I did not expect this. If this is the case, I would rather have a share bathroom and have my own wardrobe space! The gal whom I am sharing with is not here yet. Will see how she is next week before I see whether to change room (which will increase my rent).

From the college it's about a 10-15 mins walk to Uni. The journey to Uni is quite a pleasant one as 1) the surrounding areas is quite quiet and 2) I get to walk pas the Torrens River and a park! Nice to walk in the morning, but have to take care when I come home at night. The Uni itself is quite nice. Have some slopes but not too much. Best part? Psychology building is located in a central position and not some far-off end of the Uni. Phew.

The City and the State Library is just beside the Uni. So convenient! Woolsworth is near too, located in the street across Uni. However, to walk back from there is tiring. When you buy lots of stuff, even worse. Can be ultra tiring.

Ok, gtg off to Uni for briefing!

Note: Not sure why this was not posted early this morning, but going to post it now :)

News from Adelaide

This blog is basically to keep people informed of what is happening to me in Adelaide. For those who do not know, I will be going to Adelaide tomorrow (!!!), 19 Feb, for my masters. Quite excited about it, and am confident that I will do well. However, at this current moment, I'm gan chiong. Why? Cause I havent finish packing. :P Haha... Anyway, I'll try to update the blog as often as I can. I'm not the greatest blogger around, considering I only post about 10 posts in 2007. But I will TRY my best to update, just so you all know what's happening to me. :)
